Been busy

Hey there. Not that anyone is reading this I'm sure. I thought I'd make an update. I haven't played a drop of poker for the last couple of months. So My totals are exactly where I left them back in May. Poker kind of fell off the scope with writing.

I've been thinking about playing some more. just haven't got around to it. Writing and promoting my books seems to take a lot of my free time, not to mention guest blogs etc. Anyways, until you happen to see me here again, this blog is officially over. Maybe one day I will give it a run again. Just not right now.

Well it's been a long time since I wrote here. Just haven't been the logging type. Actually been the authoring type lately. Got my first book out, and will have my second in a week or so. Fantasy, you can find them in Amazon, Barnes and Noble online etc. Look for Storytellers, author Sharlow.

As to poker. I haven't played as much as I wanted. Almost not at all. I had to withdraw all my money just to live, but I left $40 in Bodog, and $40 on Fulltilt. I lost the most of the fulltilt on a bad run, was down to the low teens. But I've stopped that and I've got back up to the high 30's playing in there dollar tournaments. I've placed in the Ferguson, two out of five tries, and I'm running about 50 50 on the 90 man $1 tourney with a second place in that one.

Bodog is a little over $200 at the moment playing in the $4 beginner's sit and go's, but I'm going to have to take $50 out for some Author expenses. Hopefully should make that back quick, assuming I have time, and don't hit a bad streak. Anyways just a quick up date. Hopefully I'll have time to post more soon. Good playing to everyone.

Oct 9th

Well today I went over to Poker Stars and decided to play in a 3,000+ person tourney. Figured what the heck I've actually place in the money in those sometimes. Even won one once. So this is a $3 entry and I head in. $ hands in I get KK, and raise all in. Only hand I've played as it's early, but there's a lot of limper's in and I figured I'd just chase them off. Got one caller and I had him covered with an extra 300 chips. He flips over J10os. I'm thing this should be easy. The flop falls 10 10 10. Ouch... a K on the turn. and a 9 on the river. Well I had 300 chips still. blinds are only 10/20 with 15 minutes a level, and I've come back and placed with only 35 chips left before. But it was not to be.

I recently started learning to play Omaha H/L just as an alternative, when I'm not doing well in Holdem. Trying the $3.30 turbos at poker Stars. First 6 games I placed in the money 5 out of those 6, so that didn't go to bad. Next day I lost 5 in a row. Next two has been a place in the money and a loss. So I'm thinking I'm learning this ok. Once I feel comfortable I'll move up to the next limit. On a side note some how I joined a turbo $3 hold em NL when I was trying to quickly get into a Omaha turbo before it filled. i was think how could I have been stupid enough to do that. Anyways I took 2nd in that so it turned out OK.

So I begin

Well I've been pretty busy so I haven't been able to play to much since I started this blog. A couple of weddings to go to, and now a sick relative, and the time really disappears. I did get to Bodog and try bit.

First i went to the cash tables 10 max just to warm up. I haven't played cash games very much recently so I figured what the heck. I won about a $1.67 in about 3 minutes and then the table broke apart. OK, so i went to another table, won about .30 in about 2 minutes and that table broke apart. Now each of these tables were 9 people plus myself. This is when I remembered why I don't like online cash games. So irritated I went to another but this time sat at a .50/$1 NL table. Put $20 down and started to play. 5 hands later I get JJ and bet 3 times the big blind. One person calls. A maniac at the table, in 70% of the hands I think. Plays anything doesnt get out. So no problem I think. Flop doesnt hit him and he checks. I raise pot sized bet to protect my hand and most likely chase him out of it. He decides to raise me for the rest of my 20. Pot odds were good and he was a manic, so after some thought I call him. Sure enough the flop didn't hit him, but he had pocket rockets. Turn and river are a blank and I'm done with the cash game. Goes that way sometimes. What you going to do. I wouldn't of called an all in with JJ, but I was already pot committed and I was sure he hadn't hit the flop. He only called preflop, so I didn't put him on a big pair, so he got me. So better luck next time I play.

Lets try this

Well my life has taken a change and I think it's time for me to make a change. My marriage just came to an end and my health just hasn't been good enough for real work. So in an attempt to make a living, I'm going to give online poker a shot. I've got $500 I'm going to put on the tables. Lets see how I do, hopefully we will see this grow. If not this will be a short blog. A long the way I'll put in a few reviews of different poker systems I have tried and bought.
